Iran’s crude steel output ascends 11% in 2016: WSA
TEHARN- According to the latest report published by the World Steel Association, Iran produced 17.89 million tons of crude steel in 2016, registering an 11-percent growth compared to the figure in 2015, IRNA reported.
Iran’s crude steel output in 2015 stood at 16.14 million tons, the report said.
Maintaining its 2015 record the country ranked 14th among global crude steel producers in 2016.
Steel production in Iran in December 2016 was 1.52 million tons, a 14- percent rise from 1.33 million tons in the same month in 2015.
Iran’s eight major steel producers exported 4.12 million tons of crude steel in the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-Decemebr 20, 2016), showing a 55-percent rise year on year, IRNA reported earlier this month.
Iran’s annual crude steel production and exports are planned to hit 15 million tons and 6 million tons, respectively, by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2017).
Crude steel output is planned to reach 55 million tons annually, according to the country’s outlook plan for 2025.
